Operating room inside an abandoned hospital in Germany
Corridor inside an abandoned mental asylum in Italy. The carriage you see is where they would lay the diseased patients on. This asylum was built in the end of the 19th century. It was first used as a hospital for the mentally ill and later it was used as a military academy. The building we visited was known as the building where also people were treated with electroshock therapy and operations to the nervous system.
I can imagine a lot of pain and suffering within these walls.
the asylum closed it's doors in the end of the 20th century when many of these asylums had to close their doors.
This shot is made in an abandoned hospital complex in Germany. This complex was built in the end of the 19th century for treating patients with tuberculosis and other non-infectuous lung diseases. In both World Wars it was designed to treat casualties of war. Even Adolf Hitler was treated here in 1916.
After the war, the Russian forces took over the complex and used it as a military hospital to treat their soldiers until 1994. When they left, the buildings were used as recovery clinic for children and Parkinson disease treatment. It has been left abandoned since 2001.
This shot is made in the building where they treated the male patients.
